Once collected where will my junk go?

We securely transport everything we collect to a licensed Materials Recycling Facility where it is sorted for reuse and reprocessing. For the small amount of materials that cannot be recycled, these are transferred to an energy-from-waste incineration facility for disposal.

I’m not sure if I have booked the correct load size – can I make a change?

If you need to change the load size you have booked, please contact our Customer Service Team at least 24 hours before your scheduled clearance. This is because we may need to change the vehicle we send to you. Please remember, it’s always better to book a larger load size as we can always credit back space that hasn’t been used, rather than turn up with insufficient room in our truck for your clearance.

What happens if I have more Junk than anticipated?

If you have more Junk than the load size booked, don’t worry. Providing we have capacity in the truck, our clearance team will collect the extra junk and you will be charged pro-rata. If we haven’t enough space in our truck, an additional appointment can be arranged.

Do I have to be present at the property to have the job done?

No, as long as our clearance team can gain access to your junk and it is in a separate pile to anything you want to keep. If we experience any issues on site our Customer Service Team will contact you.

What should I do with hazardous/difficult waste that cannot be placed into the skip?

Please contact Select Environmental Services, hazardous waste division on 0118 975 9000 for a competitive quotation.

How high can I load the skip?

For health & safety purposes, all skips must be level loaded.

Please Be Aware – if we attend a site to collect a skip and it is found to be overloaded, a wasted journey charge will be levied to cover additional operational costs.

How long can I keep the skip?

Our standard service charge includes up to 14 days container rental. After that period a daily rental charge will apply.

Can I have the skip placed on the road?

No, we will not place any skips on a public highway.

Can I have the skip placed on my drive?

Yes, providing the ground is firm and there is a minimum width of 2.75M (9 feet) for vehicle access.

Will the skip damage my driveway?

To prevent marking to block-paved or tarmac driveways, please ensure that you either have scaffold boards or sheets of plywood available for the skip to rest on.

Please Be Aware – If you intend to use the skip for heavy materials such as hardcore or soil, the skip will need to be positioned within 2 meters from the edge of your driveway. This is to ensure that when the skip is lifted the vehicle’s stabilisers do not come into contact with your driveway.

Where will my skip be tipped?

All skips are tipped at a licensed Materials Recycling Facility where the contents are sorted for reprocessing. For the small amount of materials that cannot be recycled, these are transferred to an energy-from-waste incineration facility for disposal.
